What is the Ontario Sportfishing Guides Association?
We are a group of professional fishing charter boat operators and guides in Ontario established for over 25 years. Individual members warrant that they comply with government safety and vessel operation regulations.
Why book a Charter?
When you fish with a pro, it's more economically sound than maintaining a boat of your own. The pro's have knowledge of the locale, weather systems and the water itself. With a pro you're always guaranteed use of the best equipment and tackle available.
What kind of fish can I expect to catch?
Ontario lakes are famous for their vast number of sport fish, for example, walleye, bass, salmon, trout, musky, perch, etc...
Are the fish safe to eat?
Yes. With a few exceptions. Please refer to this link for more information.
What do I need to bring?
Most operators supply all fishing equipment and safety gear. They are also able to provide food and lodging if necessary but will always point out the best places in which to eat and lodge.
How much does it cost?
All operators have different rates to suit your style. These are subject to change without notice.
Do I need a fishing license?
Ontario residents below the age of 18 can fish without a license and can take home a full limit of fish if they wish. Adults between 18 and 64 are required to have a license. Please see link for rates and license options.
To ensure the safety of the boat is there anything specific I can look for?
